Leading the Liquid Cooling Revolution
At the 2025 Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit in San Jose, California, Boyd showcased the ROL4000 CDU, which meets Google’s latest two-megawatt Project Deschutes Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) requirements. The fifth-generation Deschutes platform represents a major advancement in open, scalable liquid cooling for enterprise, cloud, and hyperscale data centers. Boyd’s design and manufacturing excellence highlights its leadership in developing high-performance, energy-efficient cooling systems that enable next-generation compute infrastructure.
Clean Power and Robust Protection
The Project Deschutes CDU specification requires 2 megawatts of cooling capacity with an aggressive 3°C approach temperature difference (ATD) to meet the growing thermal demands of modern AI and cloud workloads. It supports advanced cold plate designs that maximize heat transfer efficiency for high-power processors and operates at an available pressure of 80 PSI.
To maintain coolant integrity and extend system life, Project Deschutes CDU utilizes 0.2-micron side stream filtration and fully redundant power feeds for each pump circuit. A dedicated 230VAC convenience port simplifies setup and maintenance in existing data center environments, while IEEE 519 Ultra Low Harmonic Distortion (ULHD) Variable Frequency Drives ensure clean, stable facility power.
Compact, Modular Design for Easy Retrofit
Boyd developed the ROL4000 to support high-capacity liquid cooling within existing data center infrastructure, as intended by Project Deschutes. Its modular architecture simplifies integration with current infrastructure while enabling scalable, open cooling deployments. The platform advances the Open Compute Project’s mission to deliver interoperable solutions that enhance thermal performance, improve energy efficiency, and support sustainable data center growth worldwide.Engineer the Future with Boyd’s Expertise
