Have a Question?
How Do Chillers Work?
Chillers leverage vapor compression refrigeration to cool. They have a compressor, condenser, evaporator, and an expansion valve. The compressor pumps refrigerant gas into the condenser. Refrigerant releases heat in the condenser and converts into a high-pressure liquid. This liquid flows through the expansion valve, undergoing a pressure drop and becomes a low-pressure liquid. As the liquid enters the evaporator, it absorbs heat from the fluid being cooled, which causes the refrigerant to evaporate into a low-pressure gas. The cycle repeats as the gas returns to the compressor.
What Are Chillers?
Chillers are a mechanical device used to cool fluids in a liquid cooling loop by removing heat from the fluid. Recirculating chillers leverage compression refrigeration to reach sub-ambient temperatures and maintain high temperature stability.
Why Use Chillers?
Recirculating chillers have a wide range of applications from preventing key high-performance components from overheating or maintaining specific conditions for complex processes. Chillers can be found in data centers, manufacturing facilities, medical equipment, test and calibration equipment, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Why Boyd Chillers?

By using field tested and enduring components, Boyd’s recirculating chillers offer high reliability in even the most demanding applications; with standard chillers including a 2-year warranty.
Maintain Precise Temperature Control for Your Liquid System with Boyd
Maintain extreme liquid coolant temperatures and cool high heat loads up to 50kW with Boyd Recirculating Chillers designed to best fit your application requirements.
Standard Recirculating Chillers
Recirculating chillers are designed for precise temperature control or cooling below ambient temperatures. Boyd chillers offer outstanding performance and high reliability with components performance-matched for quiet operation such as Positive Displacement Pumps (PDPs), Centrifugal Pumps (CPs), or Turbine Pumps (TPs). Custom PID controllers and advanced refrigeration control circuits ensure that the chiller maintains ±0.1°C (0.2°F) stability.
