The Aavid SmartCFD User Interface
Aavid SmartCFD utilizes a typical window-style graphical user interface (GUI) controlled with the mouse and keyboard.
When you open Aavid SmartCFD, the Main Window with several menus will open by default. The GUI consists of several major components: the Main Menu Bar, Toolbars, Project Manager, Property Panel, the Message Window and the 3D Model View. Most actions in Aavid SmartCFD are completed using the Project Manager, the Main Menu, or the Toolbars.
3D Model View
The central window of Aavid SmartCFD is the 3D Model View, where users can view and manipulate the visual representation of their CFD model. Each object, including the domain, has a basic (X, Y, Z) position relative to the origin of the global coordinate system. The Main Menu and Toolbar has basic file navigation functions as well as key shortcuts for common processes and viewing angles. Hovering over each icon will indicate the action behind each process.
The Project Manager
The Project Manager is a hierarchical outline-based representation of all the objects that make up an Aavid SmartCFD file. This features acts as the primary interface for defining and managing the project. The Project Manager, located on the left of the screen, organizes all the settings, objects, components, libraries, and solutions for the project. This is an expandable menu of the project where the user can disable, hide, replace, or duplicate any components within the project. Selecting objects within the Project Manager activates the Property Panel for that object, which is displayed on the right side of the window.
The Property Panel
Property Panel lists out the properties of an object selected in the Project Manager or in the 3D Model Window. The Property Panel, typically docked on the right side of the Aavid SmartCFD window, is where you can change a wide range of characteristics for an object.
The Component Toolbar
Aavid SmartCFD enables users to quickly add all components for a CFD model with the user of the Component Toolbar. The Component Toolbar is comprised with a series of icons representing all the objects a user can add into the simulation model.
The Geometric Toolbar
The Geometric Operations Toolbar contains key shortcuts for advanced positioning and model manipulation. Hovering over each icon will indicate the action behind each process.
